Message from our Superintendent

This decision is necessary to ensure we meet the state-mandated requirement of 75,600 instructional minutes for the school year. As a result, Monday, May 5th, will now become a regular school day, following our normal school hours and schedule.

Earlier this year, the District applied for a waiver to excuse the instructional time missed when we chose to close schools due to the illness outbreak we experienced in January. Unfortunately, the Texas Education Agency denied this waiver. The reason for the denial was tied to our postponed start date at the beginning of the school year due to our construction delays, which made us ineligible under the state’s strict waiver guidelines.

We thoroughly reviewed every possible option to meet the required instructional minutes without impacting additional calendar days. However, after careful consideration, using the bad weather day on May 5th is the only viable option to remain in compliance with state requirements.

Thank you for your understanding, your flexibility, and most of all your dedication.
