A Message From Our Superintendent

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, February 12th, a group of Region 12 Superintendents, including myself, traveled to Austin to meet with Representative Buckley and advocate for the needs of public education. I’m pleased to share that the information I received was encouraging. There are dedicated State Representatives actively fighting for the future of public education. Some key points being addressed include:

  • Increase in teacher pay
  • Increase in special education funding
  • Funding to build CTE facilities in rural public schools
  • Increase in funding for Pre-K and early childhood development
  • Funding for advancements in school safety
  • Overall increases in the funding model for public school systems
  • Safeguards and accountability for families and schools receiving School of Choice funds

This is a positive, ongoing fight for the betterment of public education, and it’s important that our community stays informed.

In support of this, BGISD is offering transportation for both faculty and community members to attend the meeting. To ensure we have enough space, please RSVP for transportation by filling out the form below. For those who prefer not to use the transportation option, we encourage you to join us in a caravan to the event. We will depart from the High School Parking Lot at 3:50 PM sharp.

After the Town Hall, we will stop at a local restaurant for dinner as a group. This will give us a chance to reflect and discuss the meeting in a more casual setting. Community members are invited to eat with the BGISD staff if they choose.

We also encourage everyone to wear BGISD attire as we stand together to show our support for public education and receive the facts about its future.

We hope to see you there!
