Recognitions and Celebrations
The meeting began with heartfelt recognition of some amazing individuals from BGISD.
- National Honor Society (NHS): Congratulations to our BGHS NHS students and Mrs. Taylor for receiving the Community Service Excellence Award! This prestigious honor was awarded to only 14 schools in Texas, and we are so proud of their dedication to service and excellence.
- Board Appreciation Month: January is Board Appreciation Month, and we are truly blessed with the best Board in the state! Thank you to all the campuses for your thoughtful cards, gifts, and messages. The Board felt deeply loved and appreciated. Special thanks to our incredible FCCLA students for cooking an amazing dinner for them.
Facility Assessment Committee Update
Community members David Brewer and Ashlee Crabtree presented a summary of the Facilities Advisory Committee process. We are grateful to all committee members for their hard work and dedication.
The committee studied district facility needs, aligned them with district programs, and prioritized them to recommend a potential bond proposal to the Board of Trustees.
The committee has proposed a minimum $35M bond to address facility needs, maximize educational quality, and strengthen our community. They have encouraged the Board to expand this amount as needed. This recommendation reflects their commitment to creating an environment where all students and staff can be proud to call BGISD home.
