First Community Blooming Grove Facilities Tour

As part of this remodel, our dedicated school board planned with the future in mind, investing in our students and staff by upgrading critical infrastructure. An outdated AC and heating system was replaced with a more energy-efficient system throughout the entire building. Additionally, safety and security remain top priorities across all BGISD campuses. At the High School, you'll notice a new secured vestibule, which funnels all visitors through the front office, creating an added layer of protection between our students and the outside world.

The primary focus of our tour was the future of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at the High School. I firmly believe that CTE is the key to preparing our students for success beyond their time at BGISD. Currently, 98% of our students are enrolled in CTE classes, and we’re proud of the incredible work our students and educators are doing with the resources they have.

During the walk, I shared BGISD’s vision for expanding CTE programs to further connect the Blooming Grove community. This vision includes:

  • Education Pathway: Through our “Grow Your Own” program, we’re preparing students to become paraprofessionals and potentially future teachers within BGISD.
  • Culinary Arts Pathway: We hope to eventually open a café that serves the Blooming Grove community, providing real-world experience for our students.
  • Nursing Pathway: In its first year, this program helps students earn a CNA certificate, opening doors to a future in healthcare. This pathway and program could provide healthcare services to our community while we prepare our students for future endeavors.
  • Agriculture Pathways: These include Agricultural Technology-Mechanical Systems, Plant Science, and Animal Science, with the potential to offer veterinary technician services to the community in the future.

These programs are designed not only to provide our students with tools for success but also to foster stronger connections between BGISD and the wider community. Achieving this vision requires planning and growth, and it was a pleasure to share these goals with those who joined us last night.

Looking ahead, we will focus on other areas of the district in future facility tours. I encourage all community members to attend and see firsthand the exciting developments happening at BGISD. Please mark your calendars and join us for the upcoming facility tours:
